Let us make some Plant Medicine together this Spring!
We will start the day with a Plant Identification and Weed Walk along the Thornton River to explore and learn about the habitat and gentle harvesting and discuss how to grow your own wild woodland medicinal plants.
Our three-part Spring series will lovingly feature the rejuvenating energy of the season's plants. You will learn how our bodies renew and detoxify naturally and how to use traditional and energetic herbal remedies to encourage this.
Each class in this series is a beautiful chance to learn about the abundance of plants, but together you can build a beautiful apothecary.
April 8th
Focusing on the green of the season, in this first class, we will build our home Apothecary's deep, green level-up plant remedies.
These vital nutrients are bioavailable for our bodies (and souls) through nourishing broths and nutritive foods. Simple but effective medicinal infusions, bitters, and foods that bring more balance through everyday habits with herbs that support your ultimate wellness.
You will learn how to focus on the herbal energetics you need to craft a Wellness Tea, Bitter formula, and Foods that you can take home to boost your immune, digestive, and endocrine systems.
Plants featured: Turkey Tail, Nettles, Chickweed, Cleavers, Dandelion, Burdock, Mullein, Yellow Dock
All the flower magic.
Enjoying and exploring herbal remedies that lift your spirit and soul with a bit of sweet energy and magic is the primary goal of this class.
To make the medicine slightly more effortless, we will be hands-deep in the flower magic by making our intuitive flower essences and sweet remedies, including infused honey, pastilles, syrups, and cordials.
By bringing flowers into our everyday rituals, we touch on reducing our anxiety, supporting our cardiovascular system, and building our intuition with nature as we trust plants' beautiful connection in our everyday lives.
Plants featured: Roses, Violets, Lilacs, Honeysuckle, Anise Hyssop, Peonies, Tulip Poplar.
Just in time for the summer season, we will craft our soothing oil-based plant oils to use daily for healing from the outside in.
First, we'll learn why infused oils are some of the simplest but most effective remedies for supporting our biggest organ, but then we'll get to the magic by creating our batch of oils for your personal use.
Enjoy learning how to make fluffy body butter, potent herbal salves, and gentle balms that allow us to have more clean living and healing remedies at our fingertips.
Plants featured: Lavender, Elderflower, Yarrow, Comfrey, Lemon Balm, Rosemary, Plantain, and Mallow.
This series is for the home herbalist who wants to learn about plants and the medicine they provide through hands-on, practical knowledge with lots of herbal magic thrown in!
Each class will have a workbook you can download with plant profiles and recipes for building your apothecary and confidence to use plant medicine daily.
Herbal Teas & Snacks provided.
This series aims to educate and empower home herbalists to feel confident and prepared to support the body, whether for wellness or disease, taught by Colleen O'Bryant, herbalist, forager, medicine maker, and owner of Wild Roots Apothecary.
