The feathery foliage of Love in a Mist, or nigella, creates its own climate; a clump creates a wispy, atmospheric effect. Out of the emerald vapors float jewels of quartz, sapphire, and amethyst, which give way to levitating seed pods shaped like vertical dirigibles. This plant is related to the Indian culinary and medicinal spice known as kalonji, but it has a more showy flower and seed pod. The dried seed heads can be saved and used for arrangements and crafts.
