Wild Roots Apothecary is located in the beautiful mountain town of Sperryville, Virginia at the base of Shenandoah National Park. We have a spacious event space connected to our shop that can be used for yoga/movement classes, seated workshops, and special meals. Bringing your community to Sperryville is truly a retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life, and the perfect atmosphere to cultivate relaxation.

Colleen O’Bryant is an herbalist, health practitioner, and the founder of Wild Roots Apothecary. She teaches classes and speaks on a variety of natural wellness topics in the Washington, DC area and travels to teach at workplaces, schools, conferences, and retreats. Colleen would love the opportunity to share her herbal wisdom at your business, home or conference.

PLANT-POWERED WELLNESS EVENTS IN YOUR SPACE

Whether you would like to boost your workplace wellness programming, offer a unique workshop at your business, or host a party at your home, Colleen will work with you to determine the best topic and format based on your audience, the season, and your venue. Colleen can adapt her teaching style and subject matter to appeal to the novice, natural wellness enthusiast or herbalist in training.

For offsite engagements, Colleen charges a base rate for her time plus travel and material expenses. A custom proposal will be created for you based on your vision for the event. If the event involves alcohol, such as a cocktail party or mixology class, the host must purchase the alcohol for the event.

HERBAL EVENTS IN OUR SPACE

Our apothecary is located in a unique, scenic shopping center that houses many local businesses including Pen Druid Brewery, Copper Fox Distillery, Flourish Root flower shop and Copper Fox Antiques. If the weather is nice, the scenic outdoor area around the shop can be used for programming such as plant identification walks, informative talks, seated meals, and movement classes. Sperryville and the surrounding area also features wineries, farm-to-table restaurants, an artisan coffee shop, and many Inns to accommodate your guests. Should you need help planning your event, we can refer you to local event planning resources!

Please note our space books up, so it is best to schedule your event at least 6 weeks in advance to make sure we can get you on the calendar.

PRIVATE WORKSHOPS

Colleen loves sharing her herbal wisdom and would love to teach a class for your group at our apothecary venue space. Whether you have a garden club or want a unique getaway experience for your professional or corporate organization, Colleen can teach on a variety of subjects. 

Here is what you need to know about Wild Roots Apothecary’s venue:

• We have tables and chairs that can be arranged to your preference to accommodate up to 25 people
• Wild Roots does not have a full kitchen, but does have a freezer and refrigerator and prep space for last minute touches and heating food
• We require a $100 upfront deposit to book the space, and this deposit is only refunded if your event has to be cancelled due to inclement weather

Cocktail Classes at Francis Bar 

If you are looking for a unique bachelor or bachelorette party idea or want to train your bar/restaurant staff to craft herbal cocktails, Colleen will teach herbal mixology classes at Francis, a high-end bar located in the town of Sperryville.

Here is what you need to know about classes held at Francis:

• The space can accommodate 10 people comfortably
• Classes are two hours in length and offered on Saturdays and Sundays from 12pm to 2pm or possibly on Mondays. 

Host an Event at Wild Roots Apothecary as a Guest Teacher

We love having guest teachers in our space, and invite you to teach your wellness-related subject matter in our venue. Combine your class with a hike in Shenandoah National Park, herbal infused drinks at Francis Bar or dinner at Thornton River Grille!

Here is what you need to know about teaching at Wild Roots:

• For a seated event in the space, we have tables and chairs that can be arranged to your preference to accommodate up to 25 people
• For a yoga or movement class, we can clear out all furniture and accommodate 15-20 people in the space
• Wild Roots does not have a full kitchen, but does have a freezer and refrigerator and prep space for last minute touches and heating food
• We require a $100 upfront deposit to book the space, and this deposit is only refunded if your event has to be cancelled due to inclement weather
• We allow hosts to set their own ticket price, and request 40 percent of ticket sales as the fee to use the space (minus the $100 deposit)
• If your event is being offered to the general public, Wild Roots will promote your event to our community, but the majority of the marketing around the event will be your responsibility
• Depending on the day/time of your event, the apothecary shop may be open during your event, but it is in a seperate part of the building and will not distract from your event
